Feminist Strike in Geneva : June 14, 2027 !

A major feminist strike is being organized across Switzerland for 2027 ! The feminist strike is a strike of paid work as well as unpaid work, and consumption. This year, care takes center stage in the demands.

These tasks are essential to the smooth running of our society, yet they remain invisible and underpaid—if not done entirely for free.

Enough is enough!

Care falls disproportionately on women and gender minorities, migrants, and communities living in precarious conditions. It is time this work is recognized for its true value. Let’s defend our pensions, our quality of life, our health, and our income, and fight for better protections!

I want to participate in the feminist strike!

A mobilization like this must be planned in advance. To go on strike at your workplace, you need the support of a union to present specific demands to your employer. The SIT can help you draft a list of demands and organize the mobilization. Gather your coworkers and contact us today!

To help organize the strike on a broader level:

  • Join the SIT Women’s Committee by emailing vbuchs@sit-syndicat.ch (a mixed-gender group by choice, excluding cisgender men).
  • Join the SIT communications group and help create flyers, graphics, and other materials by emailing 14juin@sit-syndicat.ch (open to everyone).

Equal pay, the protection of maternity leave, the defense of public benefits, the impact of part-time work on pensions, and the fight against gender-based and sexual violence concern us all ! That’s why everyone can join the feminist care workers’ strike on June 14, 2027 — even people who don’t work in the care sector… as long as they’ve filed their claims on time.

A key demand that concerns us all

In addition to the specific demands of each sector, we want to send a clear message in favor of real political change. We demand a reduction in the paid workweek, without any loss of pay.

We want to redefine the place that work occupies in our lives and redistribute care work—whether domestic, educational, or health-related. We want to value and distribute this work — which is essential to the proper functioning of society — equitably. We want enough time to live!

The SIT mobilizes year-round in support of equal pay and wage increases for female-dominated professions (childcare, home economics, healthcare, education, and social services). It is committed to establishing prenatal leave and parental leave in addition to maternity leave, as well as achieving a better distribution of educational, domestic, and caregiving tasks. It fights to alleviate the workload of cleaning staff and against Sunday work in the retail sector. It works daily to regularize the status of undocumented individuals and advocates for access to decent pensions for women, part-time workers, and intermittent workers, especially in the cultural sector.

Let’s make June 14, 2027, another historic strike to make our demands heard and secure new rights that guarantee us better working conditions, wages, and living conditions.
